Borja Baston is on his way to Aston Villa to complete a move, as reported on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (31/01/2020, 18:26).
What’s the story?
Aston Villa may have signed Mbwana Samatta earlier in the window, but they are still on the hunt for a striker, and it seems they have turned to the Swansea frontman.
The Spaniard, whose contract at the Liberty Stadium expires at the end of the season, is on his way to the Midlands in order to complete a Villa Park move.
The need for another striker comes after the season-ending injury sustained by Wesley against Burnley, as well as Jonathan Kodjia’s exit during the January window.

An important move
This could prove to be an important transfer for Villa if it is completed, as they aim to maintain their Premier League status past the current campaign.
Baston has shown that he can hit the back of the net during the current campaign, having scored six times in the Championship, while an assist has also been added to that total.
Villa will likely be patient with their Tanzanian striker Samatta following his move from Genk, but they cannot afford to solely rely on him to lead the line.
Calling all transfer experts! How much did each of these Deadline Day signings cost?
It may have been his first game for the club, but he did fail to capitalise from two pretty clear chances during the Carabao Cup semi-final against Leicester City.
Therefore, Baston can compete with the 27-year-old for a place in the team, which could ultimately bring the best out of both of them.
