Steven Bergwijn insists that there is more to come from him as his Tottenham Hotspur career continues, per Sky Sports via The London Evening Standard.

The Netherlands international enjoyed a dream debut for Spurs, playing for Jose Mourinho’s side against Manchester City last weekend, and scoring the first goal of the game.

As Lucas Moura chipped a clever ball into the box, he took the ball on his chest and sent a volley into the bottom corner and beyond Ederson.

His reaction was one of pure, unadulterated joy as he appeared unsure of how to properly celebrate. Son Heung-Min added a second and Spurs escaped from north London with all three points.

After the game, though, he promised supporters that he will only get better.

He said: “It was difficult in the beginning, the intensity.

“It was a hard game and I have only been here for four days now, but after [I settled] it was okay. I can do more so you will see more, for sure.”

This is excellent news for Spurs fans.

Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?

Bergwijn is a clever, pacey dribbler with twitchy feet who can send defenders one way while skipping away in the other direction.

He scored five goals in the Eredivisie for PSV Eindhoven this season prior to his move, while also providing ten assists in just 16 games. In total, he netted 31 goals and provided 41 assists in 149 games, or a goal involvement every 0.48 games.

That is an exciting ratio and, already, he has one in one for Spurs.

As the season progresses, he will surely be used across the front three. Throughout this season, he has already played on both the right, the left, and in attacking midfield.

He has won nine caps for the Netherlands and, at the age of 22, he has a high ceiling and is poised to just keep growing under Jose Mourinho this season.

With his commitment that he will continue to grow and “do more”, Spurs fans have every right to be excited about the future with him in the team.
